Olexander Wlasenko; "Record Player"

This phenomenal new work by Olexander was inspired by the 1962 Truffaut film "Antoine et Colette".  "Antoine et Colette" is the second of five films by Truffaut that follow the character Antoine Doinel from boyhood to adulthood.  Antoine, who is played by the French actor Jean-Pierre Leaud, made his screen debut in the 1959 Truffaut film "400 Blows" (also captured by Olexander in an earlier work).  In "Antoine et Colette" Antoine is a solitary seventeen year old who works in a record factory manufacturing LPs.  He spends most of his time listening to classical music and opera in his one room apartment.  He falls in love with  the beautiful Colette, but unfortunately for poor Antoine the love is unrequited.

 "Record Player" by Olexander Wlasenko
Jean-Pierre Leaud in another scene from "Antoine et Colette"

In the moment from the film captured by Olexander, Antoine is shown playing records in his room.  He is pensive and melancholy as he spins a record that reminds him of his love.  Charcoal on paper 78" l., 46" h.  framed.  Canadian, 2012  SOLD

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing all of our American family, friends, and clients a very happy Thanksgiving!  We have so much for which to be thankful.  We are thankful to call so many of our clients friends.  We are thankful to be doing what we love every day, and that so many of you are enjoying what we are showcasing in the shop.  We are very thankful to be representing the wonderful and extremely talented artists that we represent.  Right now we are very thankful to Patsy from Ottawa!  Patsy sent us her pumpkin chiffon pie recipe with ginger whipped cream as a thank you for forwarding my mom's famous apple custard pie recipe (she saved it from the Oct. '08 Canadian House and Home but misplaced it).  We are making Patsy's pie right now.  By the way, you can find Evelyn's (mom's) apple custard pie recipe on this blog under the "recipes" category.
