Salon was inspired by the 1965 Italian film
Io la conoscevo bene, which translates as
I Knew Her Well. The film follows a small town girl who wants to make inroads into the Roman entertainment industry. With Salon, Olexander had Edward Hopper's isolated paintings in mind. The deserted scenario feels evacuated of a human presence. Inner dramas are concealed behind closed doorways and urban portals.
