Set of 4 Panton Chairs and Glass Top Table

The Panton Chair is a classic in the history of modern furniture design.  From the early 1950's, Danish designer Verner Panton had desired to create a stackable, cantilevered chair out of a single piece of moulded plastic.  In 1960, the chair was developed to the point where it could go into production.  It was the first chair to be manufactured completely out of a single piece of plastic.  Since its introduction to the market, it has undergone a number of design modifications and been produced by various manufacturers including Herman Miller.  While this set has been attributed to Herman Miller,
https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/tables/dining-room-sets/mid-century-modern-verner-panton-cream-dining-set-card-table-herman-miller/id-f_8364553/#0
it doesn't have a Herman Miller stamp or label, so we can't confirm the manufacturer.
The chairs are very comfortable due to the cantilever structure and the flexibility of the polystyrene.  The table has a glass top and hollow tubular legs.  It would make a great breakfast or kitchen set.
The Panton Chair has received many international design awards over the years and resides in the collections of many prominent museums including the MoMA.
Chairs, 32" h., 20" w., 20" d.  Table, 41" diam., 27" h.  American, c. 1970's  $1,275.00 for the set  SALE $795.00 for the set
Condition:  3 Chairs and table are in good - very good vintage condition with some typical age appropriate marking and color variance in the polystyrene.  1 chair has a small piece missing from the side of the seat, but it does not affect the structure and still shows well.  The chair could be restored.

First and Last

It was 6 years ago this week that Michael Thomas opened it's doors.  Our first window was this "Taking Flight" installation.  We used lots of leftover canvas drop cloths and hung them in layers from the front to the back of the window (with concentric cut-outs).  Our big aviary featured bird pieces that would later be for sale in the shop, and a paint can and splattered wall to give that "coming soon/ under construction" vibe.  We have had lots of fun creating our Windows on Walton and we hope you have enjoyed them too.  Sunday August 24th will be our final day, and this will be our last window at 56 Walton.

Winding Down

As we wind down in the shop over the next two and a half weeks and Parker winds down in our temporary home in the country, we will still be bringing in new pieces.  We probably won't have a chance to photograph everything and update the site, so stop in to see what's new.  We will be updating the blog regularly though with some pretty significant markdowns.
