Widdicomb Dining Table and Eight Chairs

Very finely crafted and beautifully designed dining table and chairs by Widdicomb.  This set has a great vibe.  It's classic yet feels quite contemporary.  It can easily go in either direction depending on how the rest of the room is furnished and accessorized.  The table has nice details which include a gilded border on the skirt and brass accents on the top of the legs and feet.  There are three leaves which are 18" wide each.  The set has eight chairs which is pretty rare.  There are six side chairs and two arm chairs.  They are upholstered in a very cheerful Chinoiserie fabric and are extremely comfortable.  Table, 66.5" l., 45" w.  (with leaves can extend to 120.5") Chairs, 32" h. back 18" h., seat 20" w. The shop will be open from 10-5 tomorrow and Karen will be here all day to help with decorating and gifting ideas.  Wishing all the mom's a happy and relaxing weekend.

David Blackwood; Newfoundland

Our May windows celebrate the work of internationally acclaimed artist and Master Printmaker David Blackwood.  Our inspiration for the backdrop to his etchings came while looking through Black Ice, the book which accompanied his 2011 exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Black Ice; David Blackwood Prints of Newfoundland.  Early in the book is a photograph of David Blackwood's studio in Wesleyville, Newfoundland.  The photograph is striking and at first glance looks like a painting with the deep red of the studio and its black roof and white trim set against a background of pale sky, shimmering icy blue sea and lush green grasses.  In our interpretation, one window of the studio looks out to the land and the other looks to the sea.  In keeping with the spirit of Newfoundland, everything was handmade and hand-painted.  The etchings featured are Passing the Rostellan and Wesleyville from the Alder Ridge.
