Early American Portrait of a Young Man

If you would like to have the perfect man hanging around your home, we've got him.  Tall (potentially), dark, very handsome and easy to get along with,  this appealing portrait of a nattily dressed man is beautifully rendered.  He has a very expressive face; piercing green eyes, aquiline nose, ruddy cheeks and just a bit of a pout.  His expression and stance suggest a definite air of confidence.  The carved frame with gilded border is period and likely original to the painting.  Oil on canvas, 30" l., 28" w. framed.  American, c. 1820-1840  SOLD

Pair of "Grosfeld House" Leather Chairs

When these chairs were made in the 1940's they were top of the line and at the height of fashion.  They were made by Grosfeld House which was one of the best makers of the period, producing high style and high glamour pieces.  So, think Bette Davis in her later years.  These chairs still retain their star power but have  lived a life and developed some wrinkles and a rich patina.  They now have a hip country house feel, but would be fantastic to add some weathered elegance to a chic town home.  The cream leather upholstery is original as is the horse hair stuffing.  American, c. 1940  SOLD
