Reynolds was born Lee Reynolds Burr in Los Angeles in 1936. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and by 1965 had started his Vanguard Studios in Beverly Hills. The studio's mission was to produce decorative works of art in the form of avant-garde sculptures and paintings. Vanguard employed a variety of artists to meet this goal, and all pieces are signed with the 'Lee Reynolds' signature. Works from the prolific studio have become quite collectible in the last few years. This large and very decorative signed abstract piece in a pointillist/ cubist manner depicts sailboats on the water.
