John Van Koert for the Drexel Profile Collection; Chest of Drawers

Profiles in MCM.
"The fluid sculptural quality of each piece of Profile by Drexel has a lived-with feeling....unlike most contemporary.  Its warm inviting walnut anticipates your touch, caresses your home.  Soft accents of silver hardware give new elegance, and harmonize easily with your accessories.  Truly fine construction and good taste distinguishes Profile".  The copy, as well as the design of this chest by American Modernist designer John Van Koert, stand the test of time nicely.  The six drawer chest has a divided top, second and fifth drawer.  The chest as well as the hardware are both very sculptural, and the piece has a great looking "profile".  34" l.,  21" w., 48" h.  American, c.1950's  SOLD
Condition:  Very good condition with age appropriate wear and very minor restoration.
The original Profile ad was designed by noted illustrator Robert McGinnis who also designed movie posters for Breakfast at Tiffany, Barbarella and James Bond films.
The profile of  "Woman at Door" is a work by Olexander Wlasenko whose source is the 1964 French film entitled  "Le Peau Douce" (The Soft Skin) by Truffaut.  The film deals with infidelity, conflict and ultimately revenge. This pictures a passage- a passing from one room to another, from one state of mind to another...  36" l., 29" h. framed.  $1,750.00
