"Jacques Adnet" French Modernist Chandelier

Jacques Adnet (1900-1984) was a renowned French Modernist designer as well as an architect and interior designer.  He was acknowledged as one of the most exciting and innovative designers at the 1925 Expositions des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.  Adnet was known for his cutting edge yet elegant designs as well as the way in which he mixed materials.  In 1950 he partnered with Hermes to create a luxurious line of leather covered furniture and interior accessories.  Amongst his other accomplishments, he was President of the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs, he decorated the homes of two French presidents and he designed the interiors of several of the most luxurious ocean liners built during the 1950's.   This exceptional chandelier by Adnet features five brass arms, with lucite and brass bobeches, which extend from a pentagonal brass base.  The base supports a cage of glass rods, and crystal balls decorate the top and base of the chandelier.  The chandelier has been rewired and the fabric shades are new.  21" h., 20" diam.  French, c. 1940's  SOLD
