Curtis Jere Bird in Flight

A Curtis Jere Story.  A number of clients have asked if I had a relative that worked for Curtis Jere/ Artisan House because of the number of pieces that have made their way through the shop.  Well, as it turns out, my Uncle Albert was in the design department at Curtis Jere for over twenty years.  When he found out, over a decade ago, that I was opening up a shop, he told me to come to his house for a visit.  He took me up to his attic and over to a corner where there were about two dozen large cardboard boxes neatly stacked.  Each box was labeled with a year in black marker.  As we started opening them, a treasure trove of C. Jere pieces was revealed.  All were collected during his tenure with Artisan House.  He told me I could have them all for the shop!  It was an amazing moment.....that never happened.  I have no Uncle Albert and there was no treasure trove of vintage Jere sculptures.  Like most collections, the Jere thing started as a discovery of who/ what they were many years ago and turned into a passion/ obsession.  The creativity in their designs, the wide variety of materials and styles from the representational to the highly abstract, and the quality of craftsmanship have led to a passion for the pieces and a constant search.  The latest find is this magnificent abstract bird in flight.  The bird/ eagle is composed of chromed and oxidized rods and it takes flight from an onyx base.  It's an American beauty!  28" h., 17" w., 14" d.  American, c. 1970's  SOLD
Condition:  Very good vintage condition with age appropriate wear.
