Back to School Windows

Our "Classic" back to school windows go out to Charles and Evelyn, and my friend's/ classmate's parents, and all parents who against their better judgement allowed us to pursue degrees in Liberal Arts with majors in Art History, Studio Art, Classics, Latin, Greek, Philosophy, English Literature, etc.  While traditionally not the first step on a path to financial riches, it has led many on a route to becoming great teachers, artists, writers..... not to mention dinner party guests.
The initial inspiration for the windows was the set of four Neoclassical chairs.  We continued the Classical theme with some Greek architecture and olive branches using traditional ancient Greek vase painting colors.  Fresh lemons, not Greek, but a nice hit of color!  Set of four Neoclassical chairs c. 1960  SOLD

   

Stanley Furniture Server

Form and function, this handsome server on casters is very versatile and features caned doors with patinated brass pulls.  The doors open to a compartment on the left with one drawer and a compartment on the right with one stationary shelf.  The back is finished so it could be floated in a room.  It would make a great bar.  44" l., 20" d., 30" h.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

Oil Drop Leather Chairs

These chairs are sensational!  We've never seen any others quite like them.  They are beautifully crafted and upholstered in leather with an oil drop finish.  We have had case good pieces and lamp shades with this finish, but never seen it done in leather.  They work nicely as occasional chairs but look fantastic grouped around a low coffee table.  25" w., 19" d., 28" h.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

Henredon Credenza

This custom "Folio Three" credenza by Henredon has great form and great function.  It has a slate top and diamond panel doors.  The center doors open to three ample drawers.  Each side door opens to a compartment with an adjustable shelf.  The credenza is on casters.  72" l., 20" d., 31" h.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

Henredon Dining Table and Chairs

This handsome dining set by Henredon is exceptionally versatile and has a nice classic, clubby feel.  Without leaves, the table is great for intimate dining or as a games table.  The table has two very large leaves and when fully extended could seat eight to ten comfortably (shown with one leaf).  There are six chairs (2 arm and 4 side) which have caned backs and upholstered seat cushions.  The set is in excellent condition and comes with the original full set of table pads.  American, c. 1960's  53" l., 45" w.  Each leaf is 20" wide. Brass and Glass Etagere attr. to Romeo Rega

The height of 1970's Italian chic, this monumental patinated brass and smoked glass etagere is attributed to Romeo Rega.  It has long top and bottom glass shelves and twelve smaller center shelves.  It works beautifully as an etagere against a wall or as a floating room divider.  80.5" h., 60" l., 19.5" w.  Italian, c. 1970's  SOLD

Cavalier Furniture 'Write-Away' Chest

Circles Coffee Table

Stanley Furniture Shelving Unit

Clean modern lines, decorative inlay, and lots of storage are a few of the features that give this shelving unit/ bookcase by Stanley Furniture great form and function.  It would work well in a living room, dining room, family room, den or office.  The top portion of the unit has two doors with checkerboard inlay that slide to reveal a compartment on each side.  There is an open compartment in the center with two drawers below.  The drawers are flanked by an open compartment on either side.  The base has doors with patterned inlay which open to a compartment with one adjustable shelf on the left side and a compartment with three drawers on the right.  72" l., 18" w., 70 1/2" h.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD
