Jens Risom, Pair of Lounge Chairs
'The Answer is Risom'. Jens Risom had a wonderful design philosophy... "good design means that anything which is good by itself will go with other things." Jens Risom began his career in his home country of Denmark, but emigrated to the United States in 1939. In 1941 he began collaborating with Knoll. The "Jens Risom Collection" was featured in Knoll's first catalogue. After his service in WW II, Jens Risom ended his relationship with Knoll and started his own firm, "Jens Risom Design". Over his illustrious 70 year career, he designed some of the most beautiful pieces of modern American furniture. In addition to being an exceptional designer, he was also a great marketer. In the early 60's he collaborated with famed fashion photographer Richard Avedon to produce the 'The Answer is Risom' campaign. These lounge chairs were featured in the campaign. They were also featured in the 2014 'The Answer is Risom' exhibition at the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, CT. This pair of lounge chairs are understated yet elegant, simple yet sophisticated, modern yet warm...and very comfortable. The frames are walnut and the seat and back cushions are upholstered in a very easy neutral fabric. 31" h., 23" w., 23" d. American, c. 1960's SOLD
Condition: Very good vintage condition.
Examples of Jens Risom's work can be found in many major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, Cooper-Hewitt, and the National Design Museum.

Kroehler Sectional Seating Group
1977. Studio 54 opens its doors. Abba's "Dancing Queen" is topping the charts. Disco dancing bottoms are adorned with Jordache's horses and Gloria's swans. In fashion as well as interior design, bold is best and orange is king. It is 1977 and this sectional seating group is purchased for a new Great Lakes lake house. It was made by Kroehler Furniture as part of their 'Citation' collection. It was pretty luxe at the time. The construction is top notch and the set has stood the test of time nicely both from a quality as well as a design perspective. The orange velvet upholstery is original and in great vintage condition. The foam in the cushions and the metal springs in the frames are also in great shape. While the upholstery has a lot of life left in it, the quality of the set makes it a worthy candidate for reupholstering down the road, and another 4 decades of life. The sections can be arranged as shown, as a three seater sofa, or as three individual chairs. 33" w., 33" d., 18" h. seat, 33" h. sides. American, c. 1977 SOLD

MCM Credenza
This is the companion piece to the Moreddi dining table and chairs posted yesterday. It is not marked, but it is similar to pieces we have featured by Milo Baughman for Glenn of Californina as well as pieces by Founder's Furniture. I have seen it attributed to Milo Baughman for Dillingham's, but we haven't been able to find any original source material confirming that attribution. Whomever the designer/ maker, it is a great piece and was kept with the same care as the table and chairs. It has a pair of caned doors with leather pulls which open to a compartment with one adjustable shelf. There are four drawers with recessed metal pulls. The top drawer is divided into five sections and is felt lined. 60.5" l., 18" d., 32" h. c. 1950's SOLD
