Italian Brass Chandelier

Unusual and very pretty brass six light chandelier.  This chandelier features rows of crystal ropes joined by etched brass "x's".  Each "x" has a crystal prism drop suspended from it.  The size makes it perfect for a foyer, powder room or bedroom where a lot of sparkle is desired but space is limited.  20" h., 16" diam.  Italian, c. 1960's  SOLD

"John Ruhl for the J.B. Hirsch Co." Bookends

John Ruhl was a noted American sculptor and graduate of the Metropolitan Museum of Art School. During his career he worked on a number of significant projects including the Lincoln Memorial and the marble lions in front of the New York Public Library.  He is well known to collectors for his work creating bookends for several manufacturers from about 1915 until his death in 1940.  This fanciful pair of "French bronze" Art Deco bookends was designed for the J.B. Hirsch Co. of New York. They depict a man in colonial dress stacking and being overwhelmed by a collapsing pile of books. The bases are ebonized and gilded metal and the heads are ivorine.  7" h., 4 1/2" l., 3" w.  American, c. 1930's  SOLD

As the 85th annual Oscars quickly approach, here are a couple of our best picture picks by Olexander Wlasenko.......

Olexander Wlasenko; "Arcade"

Eye candy.  This new work by Olexander was inspired by the film "Lola" which was the directorial debut for Jacques Demy.  Anouk Aimee starred in the title role of Lola.  The film is set in a coastal city in France.  A young man, Roland Cassard, played by Marc Michel, is at a crossroads in his life and floundering when he falls for the lovely Lola, who is still consumed with her former lover.  In this scene, the very handsome Roland is walking through an arcade to rendezvous with his lover Lola. Olexander Wlasenko; "Anna"

Strikingly beautiful new work by Olexander entitled "Anna".  The image is of  Marie-France Pisier in the role of Anna from the 1965 thriller Le Vampire de Dusseldorf.  Marie-France Pisier was a French actress, screenwriter and director who appeared in many films of the French New Wave, and such noted later films as Cousin Cousine, which won her a Best Supporting Actress award.  This work is truly dazzling.  Framed, 42" l., 24" h.  SOLD

"Paramount Furniture Co.," Dining Table and Chairs

Made by the Paramount Furniture Company of Warren, PA, this dining table with six chairs has an overall modern feel but with warm, more traditional, Biedermeier influences.  The set matches the credenza listed below and has an equal level of quality and design.  The wood is the same rich, nicely patinated, ribbon stripe mahogany.  The table has two attached leaves which drop and three additional loose leaves.  It has a very handsome four pedestal base which separates as the loose leaves are added.  There is one arm chair and five side chairs which retain their original teal fabric upholstery in good condition.  As shown with the leaves extended the table is 55" l, 40" w., and 29" h.  With the leaves down it is 25" l.  Each loose leaf measures 12" w., and fully extended with all leaves added, the length is 91".  American, c. 1940 SOLD

"Paramount Furniture Co." Credenza

par-a-mount:  adj., superior to all others.  With a name like "Paramount" much is expected.  This exceptional piece is worthy of the name.  In terms of design, quality and condition, this credenza is up there amongst the finest pieces we have had in the shop.  The wood is a rich, ribbon stripe mahogany with a warm patina and beautiful graining.  It has four drawers with unique, streamlined modern, patinated brass pulls.  The top drawer is divided and felt lined.  Two sliding glass doors open to a compartment with one shelf.  It's a show stopper.  56" l., 20" w., 32 1/2" h.  American, c. 1940 SOLD

Modern Plant Stand

Baroque Style Mirror

Very ornate double mirror with scroll and ribbon design,  lacquered in a white satin finish.  The mirror has a fairly large display shelf which measures 13 1/2" l., 6" w.  The full mirror is 48" l., 18" w.  American, c. 1970's  SOLD
