Curtis Jere Leaf Sculpture
Well, it seems wall sculptures have been our thing this month. Here is the earliest Curtis Jere we have featured and one of the earliest we have seen. Please check out the Jere piece listed last week for a history of the design house. This leaf sculpture has great color and patination. The leaves have a beautiful mix of copper, brass, gold, red and verdigris tones. There are three sprigs of berries with red and gold tones. The piece may be hung vertically or horizontally. 44" h., 36" w. American, c. 1968 SOLD

Made iconic by Coco Chanel (as seen in her Rue Cambon apartment above), the wheat sheaf table has remained a decorating classic. We have had quite a few pieces with the wheat sheaf motif over the years, but this is likely the nicest table we have featured. It has a beautifully toned gold finish, a substantial, well-crafted bundle of wheat and a thick rope tie. 36" diam., 16" h. Italian, c. 1950's SOLD

RWay Furniture Chest of Drawers
Strange bedfellows? Not really. More like super stylish bedfellows. This is the companion piece to the long dresser listed earlier this week. With a nod to Saarinen and some of the finer Mid-Century Italian furniture we have seen, this chest by RWay is on our list of favorite pieces that have made their way into the shop. It was a custom made piece for the client who purchased it in the 1950's. She ordered a production piece, but with ivory colored drawer fronts. In our research we have not found any other pieces with contrasting drawer fronts by RWay. The addition of the contrasting fronts serves to enhance the already sophisticated styling of the piece with its cool lines, sculptural hardware and brass legs. We found these cards in the back of one of the drawers. When furniture used to come with thank you notes! The cards are in as good of condition as the chest. 34" l., 18.5" d., 42" h. American, c. 1950's SOLD
