Jan Lewitt and George Himm; Travel Poster for A. O. A.

Designed by the graphic artist duo Jan Lewitt and George Himm is this fantastic travel poster for American Overseas Airlines.  Jan Lewitt and George Himm met in Warsaw and emigrated to London together in 1937.  They had a design partnership that lasted over 20 years.  While in London, they became good friends with artists including Henry Moore and Piero Fornasetti, and worked with Picasso on a number of occasions.  Lewitt and Himm designed this version of this poster for the A. O. A. French market.   It advertises 'America in one night'.  It was printed by W. R. Royle and Son, Ltd., London.  37.5" h., 24" w.  English, c. 1949  SOLD

John Widdicomb Cabinet

A Widdicomb wow!  We're loving everything about this Hollywood Regency style John Widdicomb cabinet.  The cabinet has its original soft green paint finish.  The doors and base are framed in gold.  The top and door panels are stained.  The door handles are painted and patinated brass.  The doors open to a compartment with one adjustable shelf and a long shallow drawer.  38" w., 18" d., 32" h.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

Vincent Guerra; Air France/ West Africa Travel Poster

An exotic and exciting find.  Rare first version of an Air France, West Africa poster by Vincent Guerra which was printed by Aleppe & Cie., Paris.  "Although drawn by the artist from photographs, unfortunately he used photographs of Asian elephants....and their morphology is distinctly different from that of Afriacn elephants, and notably the ears, which are shorter" (Air France p. 130).  In 1948 the image was corrected and the poster was reissued with "earlobes worthy of their breed".  The poster is framed and linen backed.  The most recent auction result for this poster (in slightly less fine condition) reached $2,860.00 U.S. (with buyer's premium) at Swann Galleries in N.Y.C.  39.25" h., 24.25" w.  French, c. 1946 SOLD

Arredoluce Triennale Style Floor Lamp
