Karges Neoclassical Credenza

Finest piece remaining on the floor..... Not as well known, but making furniture of the same quality and design standards as Baker, Kittinger and the best American makers, Karges has been handcrafting fine furniture for over 100 years.  This magnificent handcarved credenza by Karges features bookmatched burl door fronts, drawers and side panels.  The three drawers have patinated brass pulls.  Below, the two center key-lock doors open to a compartment with two drawers.  On either side, the key-lock doors open to a compartment with an adjustable shelf.  If you're looking to add one classic piece to a modern home for some warmth and character, or looking to add a showstopper to a traditional interior, this would fit the bill handsomely.  80" l., 18.5" d., 32" h.  American, c. 2nd half 20th c.  SOLD
Condition:  Excellent vintage condition with age appropriate wear.

Fornasetti Style Cart

This one is pretty unique.  We've never seen another one like it.  This Fornasetti-esque cart has two tiers and a compartment for bottles.  The frame is lacquered metal with a polished brass handle and caster bodies.  The glazed ceramic top is decorated with colorful American style medallions.  31" h., 33" w., 16.5" d.  Italian or American, c. 1950's  SOLD
Condition:  Very good restored condition with age appropriate wear.

Classical Composition

Classical composition.  We've had a few pieces of fine furniture by Weiman in the past.  This columnar stand is the most unique.  The hand-carved, gilded, antiqued and fluted column has an octagonal base.  The removable top is polished marble.  When we removed the top, the original tags were stapled to the inside of the base and had never been removed.  Love these little ephemera finds, and when fine care is taken of fine pieces.  29" h., 14" diam.  American, c. 1950's  SOLD
Condition:  Excellent vintage condition with age appropriate wear.
The small X-base table has an antiqued finish with a burl top.  It has lots of decorative punch and would function nicely as a small cocktail table or a side table.  27" w., 19" d., 18" h.  American, c. 1950's  SOLD
Condition:  Very good vintage condition with age appropriate wear.

Arne Vodder Chair

During the next few weeks, before we close the Hamilton shop, we will be posting some items that we have in existing inventory at greatly reduced prices.  We will also be posting a number of pieces that we haven't featured before.  We will be offering curb side pickup at the shop as well as physical distancing delivery to your door (masks and gloves).  'Elle', 'Ella' and 'Ellen'...this chair is listed by various names, but the one certainty is that it was designed by Arne Vodder in Denmark and manufactured by Vamo.  It's super stylish and super comfortable, with a pivoting backrest and armrests that have a slight downward tilt.  The tilt to the armrests also makes it perfect for tucking under a desk if you want to use it as a desk chair.  The frame is teak and it has been newly upholstered in a nice quality naugahyde.  30" h., 25" w., 22" d.  Danish, c. 1960's  SOLD
Condition:  Very good restored condition with a minor repair to one back leg.

HOPE

Our final window display at MTA, filled only with HOPE.

Thank You!

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this week's bake, including my beautiful cousin Susan for giving me her recipe many years ago for her chocolate chocolate chip cream cheese cupcakes.  They've always been a crowd pleaser.  (DM me if you'd like the recipe)  We're getting organized for deliveries today which are going to health care workers at long term care senior's residences here in Hamilton.  In addition to baked goods we will be delivering face shields.  A coworker of Rich's has been producing hundreds and hundreds of shields on 3-D printers in his garage over the past few weeks.  So, a big thank you to Ryan!!  The facilities were thrilled to hear they'd be receiving shields when we called to see if there was a need.  If you know of any front line workers or facilities in need please DM me and we can arrange with Ryan.  It's pretty incredible what he's been doing!  Back to the baking, like I said before, I'd like to keep this going as long as needed.  If you can help out in the coming weeks, please DM me.  Thanks very much!  Stay safe.  Be well.  And bake good.  We'll bake it through this together!

Happy Easter!

Beige gold.  While the thought of selling on the black bread market the 6 packages of yeast I found tucked away in a kitchen cabinet crossed my mind, I decided to just double up on this year's Easter bake.  Who would have thought 'yeast crisis' would have been a byproduct of these times?  It's just one more thing we took for granted that we'll look at in a different more appreciative way on the other side of this.  Happy Easter!

Thanks Again!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this week's bakes!  We're getting tomorrow's packages organized and looking forward to delivering to the ER team at William Osler Health System.  There's a personal connection there as Rich and my good friend Dyanne are part of a great charity, Socks 4 Souls, that was started by doctors at Osler.

"Socks 4 Souls Canada is a non-profit volunteer organization committed to contributing warmth, comfort, dignity, mobility and health to homeless people by providing them with new clean socks.  We recognize the importance of good foot health and how it can impact one's ability to seek food, shelter, medical care and other social services."

Like I said before, I'd like to keep this going as long as needed.  We have a few 'perpetual donors' but are grateful for the new contributors each week.
If you can help out, please DM me.  Thanks very much!  Stay safe.  Be well.  And bake good.  We'll bake it through this!
