Crawford Furniture Co. Credenza

Cool, clean, architectural lines on this six drawer credenza or chest by Crawford Furniture of New York.  The credenza is made of solid maple which has mellowed to a rich, warm honey tone over the last 60 + years.  A matching maple framed mirror with rails, which can be attached to the piece or hung, is included.  60" l., 19" d., 30" h.  American, c. 1950's  SOLD

Rway Furniture Co. Chest

This is another piece by Rway Furniture.  The very popular pair of parchment front dressers we featured earlier this year were also made by Rway.  This well crafted, six drawer chest has similarly sleek, sculptural lines.  The slightly bowed front, curvature of the top, legs and sides work together to create a beautifully fluid overall design.  49" l., 20" w., 33" d.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

Blaupunkt "Stockholm 22250" Radio

And now for something completely different.  If you're looking for the quintessential audiophile accessory to complete your mid-century/ modern habitat, this may be it.  There's nothing like the velvet sound, especially if you're into jazz, of tubes and Blaupunkt.  In addition, the "rebirth of cool" wooden case and cockpit-like lit dial are just so good looking!  When introduced, this table model radio sold for 360.00 DM.  With the currency and inflation conversion that would be about 1,100.00 CAN$ today.  It was, and still is, top of the line.  26" l., 8.5" h., 11" h.  German, c. 1961  SOLD

Table Lamp with Barkcloth Shade

"The calla lilies are in bloom again."  I think Katherine Hepburn would approve of this lovely 1940's table lamp with an Asian inspired ceramic and carved wood base.  The barkcloth shade has a calla lilly design on a black background with ricrac trim.  It gives off a soft, warm, romantic light.  19" diam., 17" h.  American, c. 1940's  SOLD

Russell Woodard Scuptura Chairs

These iconic "Sculptura" chairs by Russell Woodard have lots going for them.  They work well inside or out-of-doors, as occasional chairs or as dining chairs with a lower dining table. The woven wire makes them light and easy to move.  And they are very comfortable.   We took a break from driving earlier this week to take advantage of a nice photo op. and shoot them outside.  This set of four seem to have lived a pretty sheltered life as they are in great vintage condition with original paint.  The wire mesh is in perfect condition and they have all of their original glides.  Back, 29" h. Seat, 14" h. 27" w., 26" d.  American, c. 1960's  SOLD

John Van Koert for the Drexel Profile Collection; Chest of Drawers

(Original Profile ad designed by noted illustrator Robert McGinnis who also designed movie posters for Breakfast at Tiffany, Barbarella and James Bond films)

"The fluid sculptural quality of each piece of Profile by Drexel has a lived-with feeling....unlike most contemporary.  It's warm inviting walnut anticipates your touch, caresses your home.  Soft accents of silver hardware give new elegance, and harmonize easily with your accessories.  Truly fine construction and good taste distinguishes Profile"  Ahh....for the days of advertising copy like that and those Darrin Stephens types!  The copy, as well as the design by noted American Modernist designer John Van Koert (see earlier posts for more about John Van Koert), definitely stand the test of time.  The design of this six drawer chest as well as the hardware are both very sculptural and the piece has a great looking "profile"  34" l.,  21" w., 48" h.  American, c.1950's  SOLD
