"John Van Koert for Drexel" Tall Chest

Designed by noted 20th c. designer John Van Koert (see earlier posts for more information on designer) this tall chest of drawers was part of the Drexel Profile Collection.  The design of the cabinet as well as the hardware is very sculptural, and the piece has a beautiful "profile".  It was extremely well cared for and even retained the original hang tag.  34" l.,  21" w., 48" h.  American, c.1950's SOLD

Olexander Wlasenko; "Double Indemnity"

"Double Indemnity" is a rare glimpse into American cinema for Olexander, whose focus is usually French and Italian films.  Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray engage in a psycho-dramatic pause. The male enters a room with a drink and cigarette in hand. The female actor is concealed from view of the male lead. The viewer sees all.  69" l., 42" h. framed.   SOLD

Olexander Wlasenko; "Beach Scene"

"Beach Scene" is an energized, Felliniesque coastal moment on the margins of "La Dolce Vita".  Marcello
Mastroianni is pictured looking down, surrounded by Italian youth. They observe an enigmatic sea
creature monster that lies at their feet.  I love the way Olex has captured a girl's shadow from the next film still in the border.   36" l., 29" h. framed.  SOLD

Lana del Rey "Video Games"

More music from and for the road.... Initially (last year) Lana del Rey was hailed as "the next big thing and the it girl" by the critics.  By the beginning of this year she was getting panned, largely due to a few shaky, live vocal performances.  All of this happened before her first album was even released.  We'll see what the future holds for the 25 year old singer.  In the meantime, love this song.
