"Hekman Furniture Co." Cocktail Table

Classic cocktail or coffee table made by the Hekman Furniture Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The burl and ebonized wood base has four scroll legs which support a very substantial bevelled glass top.  41" diam. 17" h.  American, c. 1970 SOLD

"Davis Cabinet Co." Dining Table and Chairs

It's a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.  This unique set was made in Nashville, Tennessee by the Davis Cabinet Co. and has an interesting blend of modern and country elements.  The octagonal oak table has a carved skirt and legs, and comes with one leaf and a custom made glass top.  The chairs have nice lines, are very comfortable and retain their original butter colored naugahyde upholstery.  It's a great kitchen set.  Table is 46" square and the leaf is 18".  There are two arm chairs and four side chairs (one repaired)  American, c. 1950's  SOLD

Home Aid

Hearing all the stories and seeing what all the victims of Hurricane Sandy are going through right now, we want to try to do something to help.  Seeing the devastation from the Jersey Shore to New York City, and having vacationed at or lived in these locations, it is a tragedy that hits close to home....literally.  This weekend Michael Thomas will be donating twenty five percent of all sales to the American Red Cross to help hurricane victims.  The Red Cross is providing food, shelter, clothes and blood as needed for the victims.  In addition, you can donate $10.00 to the Red Cross directly by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999.

New York; Before the Storm

Well, we made it out of NYC on one of the last flights from J.F.K., and arrived back in Toronto about 3:30 a.m. yesterday morning.  Our thoughts are with all our friends and family on the east coast and particularly those in New York.  It was a typically great long weekend, and the city was alive and kicking with no impending sense of doom.  The Metropolitan Museum was packed when we took in "Regarding Warhol:  Sixty Artists, Fifty Years".  Our friend Ward's (Kelvin) fantastic new fall collection of fine jewelry launched at Sak's Fifth Avenue.  http://wardkelvin.com  As always, lots of great dining, nice times with friends, and lots of inspiration.  Knowing the resilience of New Yorkers, the city will be up and running soon, and will need the support of visitors enjoying all it has to offer.  Once again, wishing everyone back east a safe and speedy recovery from the storm.
