If you had the opportunity to watch the Cooper-Hewitt video posted earlier this week, you likely have a clear understanding of the impact Gilbert Rohde had on modern design. If you are a Herman Miller fan, you were probably quite surprised to see what their furniture offerings looked like prior to Rohde's influence. This rare and important bedroom grouping from 1934 comes from the early years of their partnership. The group is comprised of a pair of asymmetrical chests, a desk or dressing table, and a head and foot board with side rails. The set is made of sycamore and mahogany. It has been professionally restored by expert craftsmen and still retains a beautiful aged patina. This ranks high in our all time "top ten" at Michael Thomas. We will be including a copy of "Gilbert Rohde: Modern Design for Modern Living" by Phyllis Ross. Chest (l.) 36" l., 19" w., 34" h. Chest (r.) 32" l., 19" w., 41" h.
