Beautifully hand painted gold leaf on silk Japanese screen depicting a mountain scene with a pair of thatched houses surrounded by trees. The houses overlook a lake with two figures in a boat. The cerulean blue in the mountains and lake is very striking against the gold background, and the loose painterly brushstrokes give the screen a somewhat modern feel. It would work well as a focal point in any room and is a great size to use above or as a headboard. 66" l., 36" h. Japanese, 1st half 20th c.
