Dorothy Draper (1889-1969) was an American interior decorator and furniture designer. She was born in Tuxedo Park, into a prominent N.Y. family. Early on she was recognized for her innate sense of style. In her work she was known for a bold use of color and pattern. Her style was coined "Modern Baroque". Amongst her more significant projects were designs for the Carlyle Hotel and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in N.Y.C., and Chicago's Drake Hotel. This table or stool was designed for her "Espana" Collection for Henredon. It has an inlaid top and "X' base with brass feet and decorative medallions.
